Consumers are always informed of the costs involved in addressing their legal needs. Only with specific and detailed knowledge of these costs can they decide how to manage their legal problems.

Our law firm provides legal services at contractual prices that reflect the complexity and difficulty of the offered legal services, their overall scope, language, etc. We agree with our clients to charge according to the time scope of the services provided or set on a contractual flat rate basis. The contractual fee may be arranged as a fixed, time-based, or share-based fee. A fixed fee is determined by an agreed amount for a specific legal matter. A time-based fee is negotiated as an amount per unit of time, most commonly per hour. A contingent fee is often set as a percentage of the value of the matter in dispute. When billing for legal services, the client is made aware of the various items of legal services that are billed.

Suppose the contractual fee is not agreed upon with the client. In that case, we proceed by the law and calculate the attorney’s cost by Decree of the Ministry of Justice No. 177/1966 Coll. on attorneys‘ fees and compensation for legal services. This Decree sets the price for an act in a legal case at the so-called tariff value. The Decree also sets out what is considered a legal service act. Therefore, when calculating the lawyer’s fee, the number of acts of legal service is multiplied by the tariff value determined according to the Decree.

By Section 14 of Act No. 634/1992 Coll., on Consumer Protection, our law firm at this moment informs its clients that the Czech Bar Association, with its registered office at Národní 16, 110 00 Prague, www.cak.cz, has been authorised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic to settle out-of-court consumer disputes in disputes between attorneys and consumers arising from contracts for legal services.
