Consumers are always informed in advance and in detail about the costs associated with resolving their legal needs, as we believe that only with specific and detailed knowledge of these costs can they decide how best to resolve their legal issue. The legal services of our law firm are provided at agreed prices that reflect the complexity and demands of the legal services provided, their overall scope, the language in which they are rendered, and the like.

We agree with clients on billing either on a time-spent basis or on a flat-rate basis. The contractual fee may be structured as a fixed fee, an hourly fee, or a contingency fee. A fixed fee is determined as an agreed amount for a specific legal matter. An hourly fee is an amount charged per unit of time, most commonly per hour. A contingency fee is most often determined as a percentage of the value of the matter in dispute. When invoicing legal services, the client is presented with individual line items for the legal services charged. If no contractual fee has been agreed with the client, we proceed in accordance with the law and calculate the lawyer’s fee pursuant to Decree No. 177/1996 Coll. of the Ministry of Justice on attorneys’ fees and compensation for the provision of legal services.

This decree determines the fee for a procedural act in a legal matter by means of a so-called tariff value. The decree further specifies what constitutes a billable act of legal service. When calculating the lawyer’s fee, the number of billable acts of legal service is multiplied by the tariff value determined in accordance with the decree.

Our law firm hereby, in accordance with Section 14 of Act No. 634/1992 Coll., on Consumer Protection, informs clients that the Czech Bar Association, with its registered office at Národní 16, 110 00 Prague, www.cak.cz, has been authorised by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic to handle the out-of-court resolution of consumer disputes in the area of disputes between a law firm or an attorney and a consumer arising from contracts for the provision of legal services.
